"Tfila" (pray) by Aloni,Barter

For the coming "Tishrey holidays" I recommend to teach the children the dance of one of the very famous Israeli song:Tfila-Pray ,performed by Ofran Chaza

words:B. Aloni

music:H. Barter

He who sits somewhere up there in the heavens-הוא היושב לו אי שם במרומים

He who heals all the sick-הוא הרופא כל חולים

He who gives great joy to children-הוא הנותן רוב שמחה לילדים

He who makes judgments-

He is in the heavens and He is the Only One-הוא בשמיים והוא היחיד

He, the great and awe-inspiring-הוא הגדול הנורא

He is the one who keeps us from woe-הוא השומר עלינו מצרה

God! Watch over us, please, like children-אלוה, שמור נא עלינו כמו ילדים

Watch please and don't leave-

Give us light and the joy of youth-תן לנו אור ושמחת נעורים

Give us strength, more and more-תן לנו כוח עוד ועוד

Watch over us, please, like children-שמור נא עלינו כמו ילדים

Watch please and don't leave-

Give us light and the joy of youth-תן לנו אור ושמחת נעורים

Let us also love-תן לנו גם לאהוב

What still remains for us in our days?-

What remains all day long?-?

Sunshine, hope and much gazing away-

He is in the heavens and He is the Only One-הוא בשמיים והוא היחיד

He, the great and awe-inspiring-הוא הגדול הנורא

He is the one who keeps us from woe-הוא השומר עלינו מצרה

God! Watch over us, ......

Playing  percussion with the song "Tfila"

In the rhythmic score of the song "Tfila" you find 2 rhythm notes:
Ta which asks us to play one sound in one beat and Hus which asks us to be quiet in one beat
Most of the Ta in the score has a color which indicates a note:
Blue is c
Green is F
Yellow is D
The children play it on a one octave xylophone and we leave only the upper three  keys of the notes on the instrument
I attach a picture from another song

Please watch the score and the tutoring video

For printing the score, please click the paperclip

  1. Please watch the tutoring video
  1. Divide your class into 2 groups:
  2. One group will play the xylophones and will sit at the first row.
  3. The second group will play the Marakas(shakers)and will sit in the second row.The shakers players will play the Ta by  taping the shakers on the other hand. At the instrumental part , they will shake the shakers in a free style
A suggestion:if you do not have enough xylophones, add a group of dancers at the back of the orchestra.
A comment:teach the children to play the score after they danced with "Tfila"  and they know the song's music.
Before playing remember:
One Ta is one sound in one beat!!
One Hus is one quiet beat.
Now please:
read the score with your children without music
play the score without music
play the score with the singing of Ofra Chaza
