Edvard Grieg
(1843 –1907)
A Norwegian composer and pianist. He is considered one of the leading Romantic composers, and his music is part of the standard classical repertoire worldwide. His use and development of Norwegian folk music in his own compositions put the music of Norway in the international spectrum, as well as helping to develop a national identity, much as , respectively.
This music has slow and fast parts it was composed by the Norwegian composer Grieg.
Young children love the surprise of the change of the music's speed and you can spend hours playing with this music

First listening together
Tell your child that Grieg, the composer who wrote this music , prepared for us a musical a surprise , an unexpected change!
Tell your child to listen to the music and walk with you in the room.
Ask your child to listen and look for the musical surprise while walking with you in the room
.When your child hears that something unexpected happens in the music , your child will have to decide what to do to show the change: Most of the children start running! You will follow your child's idea.
When you will hear that the music is slow again, ask the child to walk with you in the room again.

Ask you child to think what was the musical story all about?
Where do we see that something was moving slowly , suddenly moving very fast and after a while returning to be slow again?
Here are few examples:

It can be about a deer , walking in the forest and suddenly met the lion. The deer rans quickly and the line did not catch it. When the deer felt safe, it walked slowly again.

It can be about the wind that blows outside, becomes very strong for a short time and then returns to be quiet.

It can be about a preson who walked in the street, suddenly he saw a friend walking ahead of him. That man start running and when he met that friend, they walked slowly together.

It can be about the turtle and the rabbit.

After your "role playing", please watch the following video which shows clouds moving fast and slow with the music.
Look for different fabrics at your home and decide how to become a cloud. You can choose to be a big or a small cloud.
Put the above video on , "join the clouds" and react to the music's speed.
Let's draw with this music

Take a blank paper.

Decide who will draw in the slow parts and who will draw in the fast part. You can decide that in the fast parts you draw in the center of the paper and in the slow part you can draw in the other parts of the paper.
Let's play with a ball with this music
Sit face to face and in the slow parts give each other the ball in an interesting ways
In the fast part give the ball to each other very very fast , without dropping it.
Let's play hide and catch with this music
Ask your child to hide in the room.
In the first slow part you walk in the room"looking for your child" and even if you see your child, you ignore him/her.
In the fast part, your child will get out from the hiding place and you have to catch him/her.
When the slow part repeats , you walk together in the room
Put the music again and switch roles
